BEFORE THE PERFORMANCE BEGINS - REHEARSAL AND PREPARATION
Do your research! Do not choose a 'boxed-in' character Hair must be kept away from the face. WARNING - GAP BETWEEN WHAT YOU SHOW IN REHEARSAL AND THE PERFORMANCE PROPS AND SHOES AND COSTUME - for rehearsal too!
You MUST bring these in - your character needs them.
Do NOT mime props - that is not acting!
Smoking
MY RULE ABOUT THIS: You do not smoke.
Classrooms and theatres are working and learning areas.
No lit cigarettes or tobacco! DO NOT light up a cigarette on stage (for performance or rehearsal) - but you can 'cheat' this. Get out the cigarette, and the lighter.
EITHER the lighter does not light (and your character is frustrated). OR you are so preoccupied with what you are putting over, that you put or throw the cigarette away.
Again - full of character.
