Stop-And-Start acting on stage
Not being 'in'. Looking blank. Looking unfocused.
Beware of acting in fits and starts. There are blanks in your performance. There is a danger that your energy does not flow from beat to beat. In the blanks, you let all the interest go down the plughole. How to avoid this? You have to keep 'in'. You have to keep your energy up. You have to follow your objectives and work on your transitions. This applies especially to high-energy performances as farce.
