'Space Detectives' - radio soap 2002

3.4.1.

Surveillance van

Spinner and Silica
Spinner is speaking through a videophone.

Spinner: Silica- are you there?
Silica: Hi Spinner, Has Zelda sent you to check up on me?
Spinner: I just wondered how it's all going.
Silica: Well, Steel by name Steel by nature. He's certainly up to something.
Working with someone else, we think. Dave and Angel have gone to search his
office for clues.
Spinner: Silica, don't take any risks. They could get caught.
Silica: Maggie's let them in, I've got it all under control.
Spinner: Anything you want me to do? I could run a check on Victor Steel...?
Silica: No thanks Spin, everything's pretty under control here.
Spinner: So you've been watching Victor Steel from the Surviellance van?
Silica: Yeah, this van's been really useful. He's giving someone
instructions in how to re-create the K62, but we don't know how.
Spinner: So he's trying to make a reproduction?
Silica: Yes, Crafty- no one would know any different- He would appear
innocent- and keep his job
Spinner: It sounds like exciting stuff.

3.4.2. Angel and Silica
Surviellance Van

Angel: Hi Silica. You won't believe what we found in Victor's office..
Silica: Ang, thank goodness! It's so boring sitting in here on my own.
Nothing happens.
Angel: I know, but you have to sit in the surveillance van in case he comes
back. It's got to be done.
Silica: So, what did you find in Victor's office?
Angel: A Dictaphone!
Silica: What?!
Angel: Well, I can't take the credit, it was all Dave, he found it.
Silica: So what does that mean then?
Angel: Scanners didn't pick up a communication device yesterday because
there was none. Victor was speaking into a Dictaphone to copy the components
of the K62. He's working alone.
Silica: Maggie Nifficent said he always wanted complete control of the Chip
World company- he obviously wants to steel the formula of the k62 to make
his won fortune.
Angel: So, when he comes back to the central lab today, it'll be to get the
final information he needs in order to reproduce the computer.
Silica: Then he'll be able to make as many DNA copies as he likes.
Angel: he'll be rich- it'll be a Chip World 2.
Silica: Not if we get there first.

3.4.3.
Dave and Silica.

Silica has left Angel in the Van to go and look for something; Dave is
talking to the voice- sensitive computer.

1 Silica: Oyo, Dave! We need you help, what's he doing?
2 Dave: O.K., you clever clogs machine, tell me what you know about movies
from my era?
3 Silica: Why's he talking to the in-house computer like that?
4 Dave: You nearly caught me out, earlier- tell me what you know!
(Silence)
Oh, Playing the silent type are we? Well I know your game. Go on- you
said before you're voice sensitive. (Loosing temper) Well, this is
my Voice!
(Silence)
Do you know who I am? I'm the great hero Dave Mumford!
5 Silica: This is getting interesting!
6 Dave: Every one round here thinks I'm James Bond, now you're going to get
me caught out!
7 Silica: Gasps
8 Tannoy: This is your voice activated computer. All James Bond's are in the
Secret Agent Department, which currently has a Blue Cross sale. For your
interest, there is a Bond Girl feature in the Movie Drome, left at the
double doors.
9 Dave: Oh, I get it, you wake up when I say a film name, or a celebrity you
have in store. Well you better keep quiet around the Enigma crew, or you'll
reveal my secret.
10 Spot- Dave kicks wall where computer is.
11 Dave: Yelp.
12 Silica: What secret?
13 Dave: Who's there?
14 Silica: (walks forward) Oh Dave, there you are,erm..go and find Angel she
needs some help searching for more clues.
15 Dave: You didn't just hear, did you?
16 Silica: Hear what?
17 Dave: O.k., see you later. (Going off)
18 Silica: (To self) Something tells me Dave Mumford's not all he's cracked
up to be.

3.4.4.
Silica and Mr Mean.

She is watching him from the Van.
This is his final visit to the central lab before he can reproduce the K62.

1 FX Lock combinations of Central lab, Doors opening. Warehouse interior, we
are with van.
2 Victor: Hello my lovely K62, after today you are going to make me a very
rich man!
3 Silica: (gasp) He's here! This is my chance to really show Zelda, This
case will be solved with my name on it!
4 Victor: (talking to it like a baby) Right, I just have to get the very
last combination for the inner- dominant Chip, then I will be able to
reproduce an exact copy of you.
5 Silica: Wait, Silica, think of your self for a change. (Pause, in- breath)
What would I get out of Victor Steel, if I were to accidentally let it be
known I was watching him?
6 Victor: (Excited) Take the G2 Blue lead which connects to the XX402.
Fantastic!
7 Silica: This is sackable information, Victor, you naughty boy. I could
make you an offer you can't refuse?
8 Victor: XVT3 patches to G12 Red.
9 Silica: (role- playing) Oh, Hi Mr Steel, I was just watching you in my
surveillance, and you seem to be earning yourself a sentence on Planet
Prison. I think we could do a deal.
10 Victor: The very last bit (being careful)! The MX Lead connects through
the DLV2 Chip Board. That's it!
11 Silica: A little bribe never hurt anyone- I could get free Chip World
shopping sprees forever!
12 Victor: Yes! I can reproduce the K62, and make a Chip World enterprise of
my own! (Laughs)
13 Well, I'm always being reminded that I'm inferior just because I'm not
human, so I don't have to behave like one. Why not work this to my favour? I
don't have a conscience like humans do, do I?
