'The story so far ...' - new listeners start here - putting over the story so far
You have to put over the KEY BASICS about the SET-UP every so often. For example, in 'SPACE DETECTIVES ARE GO!', that our heroes are a detective agency set in the future. In EPISODE ONE, of course, you have to begin with the SET-UP. This first episode of the soap has special requirements. See EPISODE ONE - special requirements At the beginning of each broadcasting 'week' (CLUMP FOR MONDAY TO FRIDAY), you need to set up a new PLOT LINE, and to remind the listeners of the SET-UP. ' New listeners start here' - you help new listeners somewhat. You will gather along new listeners at any point in the broadcast. At times you will remind them of the SET-UP and the CLUMP PLOTLINE. But you cannot waste time doing this for every episode. Scripting 'the story so far...' takes skill. It cannot be done too obviously. It cannot be clunky. But it has to be done. EXAMPLES - we are reminded what the HEROES do as a business - they are detectives.
(FROM 'SPACE DETECTIVES ARE GO!' - we go straight into the middle of a meeting between a distressed new client for the company and the woman BOSS)
